Scammers Posting Fake Reviews on Our GMB Profile: A Case Targeting Digital Media Sapiens

In today’s digital world, online reviews are an essential part of how customers evaluate businesses. Genuine feedback builds trust and helps brands grow, but unfortunately, some bad actors misuse platforms like Google My Business (GMB) to spread negativity and extort money. Recently, Digital Media Sapiens, a reputed digital marketing agency in Dubai, became a direct target of such scammers.

Scammers Posting Fake Reviews

Over the past few days, multiple suspicious one-star reviews appeared on our official Google My Business profile. These reviews were clearly fake, with generic comments such as:

  • “Their strategies are outdated, generic, and had no positive impact on my brand.” – David Dave

  • “I wasted months and money here, no real results and very poor communication from their team.” – Robert Johnson

  • “Completely unprofessional service, they only made promises but delivered nothing useful for my business.” – David Rue

  • “I don’t recommend.” – Michael Peralez

  • “Bad service.” – Moore Jeen

These names, as shown in our GMB screenshots, are not associated with any of our genuine clients. Instead, they are part of a coordinated scam.

The Extortion Attempt

Alongside these fake reviews, our team also received WhatsApp messages from a scammer demanding money in exchange for removing the negative ratings. The scammer openly stated:

  • They had posted fake 1-star reviews on our profile and other businesses.

  • They were demanding $200 as payment.

  • If payment was not made, they threatened to continue posting fake reviews daily.

Screenshots clearly show messages such as:
“I have worked on five businesses and I haven’t received my payment, that’s why I’m putting one star. My payment is $200. If I don’t receive my payment, I have five businesses and I’ll keep putting one star.”

This is a direct case of online extortion where scammers weaponize reviews to pressure businesses into paying money.

Impact on Reputation

Even though Digital Media Sapiens maintains a strong 4.6-star rating from genuine clients, these fake reviews can still:

  1. Mislead potential customers.

  2. Lower trust in our brand.

  3. Hurt our search visibility on Google.

  4. Create unnecessary stress for our team.

It is important to note that these reviews are not from real clients but from scammers attempting to exploit businesses.

Our Stand Against Scammers

At Digital Media Sapiens, we want to make it clear:

  • We will not give in to extortion.

  • We are reporting these fake reviews and extortion attempts to Google and relevant authorities.

  • We continue to deliver the highest quality digital marketing services to our genuine clients across Dubai and beyond.

Conclusion

The recent attack on Digital Media Sapiens’ Google My Business profile highlights a growing scam where fake reviews are used as blackmail tools. Scammers, under names such as David Dave, Robert Johnson, David Rue, Michael Peralez, and Moore Jeen, have left misleading one-star reviews and demanded money for their removal.

We encourage our clients and readers to be aware of such fraudulent practices. Online reviews should reflect real customer experiences, not be misused for scams and extortion. By raising awareness and standing firm, we aim to protect the integrity of businesses and the trust of customers in the digital space.

The Importance of Advanced Cargo Security Filing with ICS2 ENS and cargofiling.com

Understanding ICS2 ENS and Its Impact on Global Trade

ICS2 ENS is a significant upgrade to the EU’s Customs handling, focusing on the security and safety of goods entering the EU. This system mandates the submission of Entry Summary Declarations (ENS) before goods arrive at EU borders. The cargo security filing under the ICS2 ENS system enhances the EU’s ability to screen incoming shipments and prevent the entry of potentially dangerous or non-compliant goods.

How Trade Tech’s Syrinx Trade Security Simplifies Compliance

Trade Tech’s Syrinx Trade Security offers a robust solution for handling these cargo security filing requirements. Our platform ensures that all necessary information, from real shipper and consignee names to detailed commercial descriptions and the Harmonized System codes, is accurately processed and compliant with EU regulations. This not only streamlines the cargo security filing process but also minimizes the risk of delays at the border, ensuring a smooth transit of goods through Customs.

Your Complete Guide to ENS Filing and EU Customs Requirements

Navigating international shipping regulations is more important than ever, especially with the EU’s updated Import Control System 2 (ICS2) Entry Summary Declaration (ENS). As global trade continues to evolve, ICS2 ENS plays a critical role in enhancing the security and efficiency of cargo entering the EU. This comprehensive guide will help shippers, carriers, and freight forwarders understand the essentials of ICS2 ENS, with practical tips for compliance and ensuring smooth operations.

What is ICS2 ENS and Why Does It Matter?

ICS2 ENS is the EU’s advanced cargo information system designed to improve border security and streamline global trade. It mandates that all cargo entering or transiting through the EU be reported via an Entry Summary Declaration (ENS), which provides Customs authorities with detailed shipment data in advance. This enables Customs to assess risks and clear goods before they reach EU borders, ensuring faster clearance and minimizing delays.

Compliance with ICS2 ENS is essential for maintaining smooth operations across global supply chains, avoiding costly delays, and adhering to EU regulations.

Future of Global Trade with Precision and Insight By Bryn Heimbeck

SEATTLE, WA, November 4, 2024 – As President of Trade Tech, I’ve seen how regulatory advancements like the European Union’s Import Control System 2 (ICS2-ENS) reshape global trade. ICS2-ENS isn’t just a new compliance requirement; it’s a foundational shift towards a more secure and efficient supply chain.

ICS2-ENS brings Europe, the largest trading market in the world, in line with the other major importing markets such as the USA, Canada, Mexico, and Japan with an identical regulatory process and data configuration. The alignment of these regulatory processes for international trade creates an effective process and data standard for both global as well as local importers and global traders. So, the question now becomes: “How do importers and global traders take advantage of this regulated data flow?”

Here’s why ICS2-ENS matters, how strict data rules ensure accuracy and operational fluidity, and how Trade Tech can help you stay ahead.

The Significance of ICS2-ENS

ICS2-ENS represents a game-changing transformation in how we manage international cargo, drastically altering the landscape of global trade. By mandating that all Bill of Lading information be submitted to EU Customs 24 hours before cargo is loaded, ICS2-ENS enhances visibility, accuracy, and standardization across the supply chain.

How Import Control System 2 (ICS2) Entry Summary Declaration (ENS) Regulations Impact Supply Chain Security and Trade

As international trade volumes rise and security threats evolve, Customs regulations are increasingly critical to protect markets and ensure consumer safety. The European Union’s Import Control System 2 (ICS2) Entry Summary Declaration (ENS) is an ambitious upgrade to its Customs process aimed at boosting security and efficiency across borders.

With ICS2-ENS, the EU has not only tightened its defences against counterfeit goods and illegal trafficking but has also set a new benchmark for how goods should flow seamlessly across its borders. This article examines ICS2-ENS’s purpose, its impact on the supply chain, and the ripple effects it may have on global trade.

What Is ICS2-ENS and Why Does It Matter?

At its core, ICS2-ENS is a modern digital system designed to collect and analyse detailed information about goods bound for the EU before they arrive. A successor to the EU’s original Import Control System, ICS2-ENS mandates that all Economic Operators (EOs) submit safety and security data electronically through the Entry Summary Declaration (ENS) well in advance. This early data submission allows EU Customs to conduct rigorous pre-arrival risk assessments on each shipment, addressing a broad spectrum of threats — from illegal arms smuggling and drug trafficking to counterfeit goods and unsafe consumer products.
