What Is Ballistic Steel Armour, And How Is It Made?

The world we live in has become an extremely dangerous place due to the use and accessibility of weapons. Hence, the need for improved security is now of paramount importance.
That being said, the steel industry is not excluded from the technological developments in the security sector, especially with ballistic steel armour becoming a global consumable for protection against explosions or ballistic properties.
In this article, we will discuss what ballistic steel armour is, how it is made, and how companies can avail it.

What Is Ballistic Steel Armour

Ballistic steel armour plates are highly suitable for protection against the pressure caused by blasts and other explosions.
The material has been treated to have improved hardness and strength, which results in an advanced ballistic property. This steel is used in a host of various applications. The main applications include:
  • Military Vehicles & associative equipment
  • Security vehicles and cars
  • Walls, doors and window frames
  • Bank Counters and Bank Vaults
To ensure the steel has properties that make it hard and strong, it also needs to maintain good dimensional accuracy and excellent flatness.
However, to be effective, the armour plate steel should be extremely hard and must have a great resistance to shock. Only then will the steel be capable of providing blast and ballistic protection. Hence, the entire process of creating ballistic steel armour needs to be rigorously monitored and effectively followed. But, how is ballistic steel armour made?

How Is Ballistic Steel Armour Made?

Ballistic steel armour is made in the same way as many other forms of modern plate steel, which includes iron, coal, steel scrap. In this process, various minerals are fired and melted in a blast furnace to create what is called “heat.” This heat is then poured out and rolled into slabs of chemically-similar material at a specified width. The slabs are then allowed to cool, following which they are re-heated and rolled under a mill to a lesser thickness. The slabs are then cut to a certain length while still hot, which are then allowed to cool again.
The twisted crystals give pretty high durability. That twisted cubical variant of iron crystals is described martensite, hence the name “martensitic armour steels”.
A secondary heat treatment method, named tempering, can be implemented to produce the steel more flexible, formable in a cold state, and less susceptible to fatigue shattering.
In conclusion, over the past decade, steel manufacturing technology has developed tenfold, with armouring companies in UAE like Cemar International pushing the lines to create new and advanced products. So, the future of ballistic steel armour is surely bright!

Advanced Armor Solutions For Vehicles: Stay Protected At All Times!

With the invention of new and improved weapons, along with the ease of accessibility, the threat is everywhere. In such dire situations, what can you do to protect a vehicle from a massive roadside bomb, or a high-velocity armour piercing round?

Moreover, here’s an interesting fact for you to ponder upon. Did you know that the odds of dying in a car accident are 1 in 5,000?

So, what can you do to protect yourself? The answer is simple; armoured vehicles. The odds of dying in an armoured car by accident are 1 in 30,000, six times less likely compared to a normal vehicle. Armoured vehicles are the future of the automobile industry. However, the current models available don’t cater to the bigger picture as they lack in critical areas like mobility and protection.

To provide futuristic technology now, we at Cemar International, one of the top advanced armor companies in UAE, provide a host of advanced solutions that will ensure you remain safe and protected at all times. In this article, we have provided a list of must-have solutions that will make your car the only protection you need.

Bullet Resistant Glass

There can be no argument made that the majority of attacks on vehicles are on the glass, as that’s from where the attackers can see. Plus, in most vehicles, the glass is the easiest to penetrate. Our bullet-resistant glasses are strong and optically transparent, and as the name suggests, are resistant to penetration by projectiles. We use high-quality material for different protection levels depending on the risk possibility. Our glasses have been tested and approved in world-class ballistic testing laboratories, along with a unique serial ID that can be tracked easily.

Armored Vehicles Suspension Systems

The most important thing for any armoured vehicle is being able to adapt to any external conditions, for example, harsh weather or rough terrains. To live up to these expectations, we’ve developed advanced armor solutions, including suspension systems that provide a whole new level of performance. This system is designed to meet your demands in cost-effective ways by providing higher speeds, improved handling, and controlling, stability and overall ride quality.

Ballistic Steel

The concept of armoured vehicles is to keep them as lightweight as possible, yet strong enough to withstand against various ammunitions. Ballistic steel helps to accomplish this goal as it is certified for such types of ammunitions. The steel is cut, designed and patterned to match the exact contour of the vehicle to ensure you don’t need to compromise on the design of your vehicle.

Vehicles upgraded with Cemar International’s advanced armor solutions are sure to provide increased safety, along with multi-hit protection and maintain ballistic capability through a variety of conditions.
