4 Tips To Keep Your Voice Healthy

It is said that “The Human Voice is the Organ of the Soul”, so it is vital to keep your voice healthy. There are several reasons that can cause Voice and Speech problems. One of the best ways to prevent it is to take care of your vocal health.

According to various pathologists, people judge you on the basis of your voice.  Hence, to sound well and confident, you need to work on your voice’s health.
That said, here are certain tips that will help your cause:

1. Give Up Smoking –

If you are a smoker, then you need to quit smoking. It is as simple as that. The reason behind this is that you will eventually end up damaging your vocal cords by smoking. By the time you realize it, your breath capacity will become significantly less than that of non-smokers. You may also cough more frequently again putting more stress on your vocal cords and throat muscles. This is why you need to give up smoking at the earliest.

2. Stretch your Shoulder and Neck Muscles

The muscles of your shoulder and neck are connected to your throat. Any tension in these muscles can cause tension in your throat. With stretching exercises, you will be able to release the tension easily. Alternatively, you can also opt for a massage and it will give the great results.

3. Go for Steaming Adventures

The moisture in the steam relaxes your vocal cords and throat. And you can easily do it in your home without any complex machine! Simply bring some water to a boil. Next, put the boiling water in a bowl, lean your head to the bowl and cover your face with a towel. Inhale the steam deeply for 5 – 10 minutes. Do this daily and you will surely be able to feel a lot of difference.

4. Avoid Air Conditioning –

Running the air conditioner to the point of excessive aridity leads to the irritation of throat membranes. This causes a sore throat as the dry air passes through the respiratory tract. This may also cause viral infection, such as a cold or flu. Hence, make it a point to avoid or limit the use of indoor air conditioning and opt for fans instead. You can also opt for opening a window to let some natural air in.
